Yesterday, on the way through the harbor at Wilson we got a little off course and ended up slamming the prop into the rocks. NOT GOOD -- the water on Lake Ontario is about 16 inches low this season and many obstructions that were never an issue are now dangerous. Being concerned about the condition of the prop/shaft/rudder; I decided to wake my 10 year old Landon up early and met a friend of mine - Brian at the boat to assess the damage and wash a few lures. We powered up as we left the harbor and could not detect any vibrations as we accelerated through the power range of the engine -- GOOD. We headed out to 70 foot and set the riggers down. We had a tip from the day before that some kings were being taken on mags so we began with a couple of MOONSHINE Mags. It was not long before the center rigger popped, we handed the rod to Landon and he began reeling, once he got the slack out the fish boiled on the surface about 60 feet from the boat, Landon kept the heat on the fish and quickly brought the nice king to the waiting net. The fish had fallen prey to a Mag Bish’s Bruiser down 62 feet. We made a couple of circles in the area and hit another king on a MOONSHINE Snack Attack down 38’. Both fish took the larger spoons and a bit longer lead than we usually run, back around 40’-60’ (Thanks to walleye fisherman Brian).
