August 18

Saturday, sunny, cool, WNW wind, 2-4’ waves

Arrived at the boat at 5:30 and could see the spray and water pouring over the breakwall, told the crew to come back at 11:30 and we would see if the lake had laid down.

The forecast was correct and the lake was calming down so we went fishing.

Began the day in 440 fow to the west of the port, the temp was down around 65’.  We did not even have all the lines out when a fish hit the 400’ copper, but we missed it.  We started a circle and the 56’ rigger with a moonshine superseedless popped, Pete began to fight the dandy steelhead and the center rigger at 70 took off then the port dipsy.  We landed 2 of the three.  We worked the area for a couple more hours landing another steelhead and missing a few others.  Just into our third hour the crew decided to run a wounded member back to the dock and finish out our trip fishing for kings in the 100 fow area.

The 100 fow area looked good and soon we began to catch fish, including a couple of nice mature KINGS.
