Friday— 1’-2’ chop, AM Thunderstorm

Flea-o-meter 3

At 6 am the sky was dark and lightening was piercing the surface of the lake with resounding thunder.  The crew and I decided we would head to the Breeze Inn and devour some eggs and pancakes.  By 8 am all was clear so we loaded into the boat and headed west out of port to where the action was on Thursday.

We set the lines and trolled and trolled and trolled.  It was so bad that Shelly asked me when the last time I got skunked was.  I told her that I had never been skunked on a full day charter and not to worry.  By 12 noon I was beginning to think I would get skunked!!  We had trolled from Johnson’s bluffs to the beginning of the flats, I maneuvered the boat into 50 fow and finally the MOONSHINE purple nurple popped with an nice brown.

6 year old AJ landed the fish nicely and after a few pictures we sent it back to swim again.  AJ was “pumped UP” from catching the fish and decided to pick out a lure for me to put on.  I put the pink and purple, f5, evil eye on the dipsy, turned around and the rod began to throb.  After a good fight we slipped the net around a 16 pound brownie that was bigger around than 8 year old Taylor who caught it!!!

After we recovered from the big brown trout we made another pass and hit a nice king on a M & M with glow tape down 42’.  We got the king to about 30’ behind the boat and the hook came out!! Heartbreaker!! Later we added another brown to our total just before another thunderstorm chased us off the lake.
