July 25
Wednesday - No wind, partly sunny, warm Flea-o-meter 8
Headed out of the break wall and began to set up lines in 60 fow. We went about a half mile and the starboard dipsy ripped then went slack — straightened hooks. Put the rig—WMD/green apple back out to 120’ and it ripped again — this time the fish ran 300’ and stopped because the power pro dug into the spool and jammed the drag, seconds later the line went slack—Straightened hooks!! The next couple of fish hit the 300’ copper with the white glow spin Dr/no-see-um fought each of them for about 10 min. then they swam away. A dipsy fish up to the back of the boat, a rigger fish that continued to swim away during the first run and before we had been on the water for 90 minutes we were 0 for 7 — each fish lost a nice one!!
We did not have much to show for our efforts, but it was one of the most exciting 90 minutes of fishing that I have seen. Luckily the next fish did come into the boat and we landed four out of the last 5 fish (Capt. missed on with the net) — we ended the day four for twelve.
