2008  NOW WE ARE FISHING!!!!

May 31

Today was one of those high pressure days, an outdoor professional and crew from central PA climbed aboard at 5am and we shoved away from the dock.  We began setting lines in 100 fow on a NW troll, the rain was pouring down but the fish began hitting right away.  The early bite was on a Black & Silver purple glow spoon mupped over 75’.  We missed some then boated and released a couple of small salmon and a rainbow as we worked the depths between 120 and 80 fow.  The day was becoming interesting as the downriggers became silent and the planer boards with red spoon and silver yellow spoon began to fire regularly.  The 400’ copper was also taking it’s share of hits but we were not boating the fish, then the copper went hard to the water and the 30# power pro snapped at the rod tip, wish we would have boated that fish!!!

Later in the day I put down a Purple Nurple MOONSHINE deep on the center rigger, it was not down 2 minutes and we had a screaming king on, we boated the fish reset the lines, circled and it happened again, then again unfortunately we missed them both, one of them after the bruiser stripped off 200’ of line.  We never did get the fish to hit the other two downriggers — how strange!!  We ended the day landing well over the limit, but releasing many legal fish to fight another day.
