2008  NOW WE ARE FISHING!!!!

May 23

Sue Stiger and crew from PA joined me once again and we fished the water just off to the west of Point Breeze.  The wind was whipping up a 1-3’ chop just enough to make things miserable, but certainly fishable.  We began our morning by putting the downriggers down 30’ 40’ and 75’.  The first fish of the morning hit the Moonshine Carbon 14 on the deep rigger.  The action was steady thru the morning but the fish were on the small side.  A steady Coho bait was the red dodger with blue fly 90’ back on the wire.  This rig took three nice Coho and has proven itself as a steady roughwater rig.  Another good flasher rig was the white echip with a blue moonshine fly behind it.  This rig we ran on the dipsy out 165’, we took one nice king on this set up and lost two others.  The rest of the fish hit different lures throughout the day.  It seemed like we would put one out and a fish would hit right away then we would catch nothing on the lure for the next hour.  In that way the day was a bit frustrating for me, but the action stayed steady and we were able to fill the board with fish.
